For the purposes of developing the Conceptual Project of the second phase of Line 2 of the Belgrade Metro, geological surveys and laboratory tests were carried out, and an Elaborate on engineering-geological-geotechnical construction conditions was prepared. The goal is to define in more detail the state and properties of the terrain and rock masses, based on which the geotechnical conditions and recommendations for the construction of future metro lines will be defined for the Conceptual Project level. The preparation of the Elaborate was based on the existing engineering-geological and geotechnical documentation, the results of which were supplemented by the results of new research in the field and in the geomechanical laboratory. Tests that were carried out in new exploration wells are: Lugeon, Le Franc, SPT, Pressure measurements and others. Geological control surveys were also carried out for the purpose of more detailed determination of the distribution of marl and limestone sediments under the Sava River bed, the depth of the Miocene-age limestone layers on the section of the Line 2 route from the Sava River to the South Boulevard, dusty sandy clays of Quaternary age, as well as new underground water in the New Belgrade from the Sava River to the Mercator. The report on control geological research was completed on June 5, 2025.
