The factory testing of the technical correctness of the TBM machines, which will be used in the first phase of the construction of the first line of the Belgrade metro, began today at the manufacturer's factory in the Chinese city of Changsha. This event represents an important milestone, which marks the end of production and the entry of the project into the next phase - the transportation of machines and the start of field work.
Director of PUK "Belgrade Metro and Train" Andreja Mladenović stated during the FAT ceremony that the construction of the subway in Belgrade has been talked about for more than half a century, and that today that long-term vision is becoming a tangible reality.
"The construction of the Belgrade metro has begun and will be successfully completed to the end. For such an important undertaking, not only political will is enough, but also a strong and stable economy, responsibly managed public finances and institutional capacities that enable the realization of large infrastructure projects," Mladenović pointed out.
He emphasized that TBM machines represent the pinnacle of modern engineering achievements and technological progress, and that their precision, power and reliability will be of key importance for the execution of one of the most complex phases of work - the construction of underground tunnels.
"The construction of the metro represents a significant step towards the further modernization of Belgrade. This project will contribute to the improvement of public transport, reduction of traffic jams, protection of the environment and provision of faster, more efficient and more reliable transport for all citizens", he added.
The importance of cooperation with Chinese partners, who, with their experience and high standards, make a significant contribution to the realization of the project, is particularly emphasized.
"Today's event has multiple significance. It is not only a technical step in the realization of a complex infrastructural undertaking, but also a new confirmation of strategic cooperation, mutual trust and steel friendship between the Republic of Serbia and the People's Republic of China established by Presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Xi Jinping," emphasized Mladenović.
He added that the implementation of such a complex project requires a stable economy, responsible management and strong institutional support, with full coordination of the Government of Serbia, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, as well as the City of Belgrade.
During FAT testing, all key systems of TBM machines are checked - mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and control. Tests are carried out in controlled conditions that simulate real work in the tunnel, with the aim of confirming compliance with technical specifications and timely elimination of possible defects before delivery.
The testing process is attended by representatives of manufacturers, investors and independent experts, which ensures complete transparency and reliability of the entire process.
