Deutsche Bahn is a renowned state-owned German railway company with a wide range of activities. The company provides services in the field of line and regional passenger transportation, as well as cargo transportation. In a consortium with the French company Sistra, DB forms a project team for the construction of the Belgrade metro, in charge of managing and controlling the design and construction of Line 1, which will connect the southwestern and southeastern parts of the city, from the Železnik station to the Mirijevo station, in a length of 21.2 km with a total of 21 stations.

On this occasion, DB International Business Director Stefan Geisperger said: "Germany continues to invest in rail transport and significant new funds are planned for further development and innovation in this branch. Deutsche Bahn will be happy to share all its knowledge and expertise in order to contribute to the effective implementation of the Belgrade metro project. We are also interested in providing support in the development of other programs, such as, for example, educational programs in the domain of the metro system, including the design of specialized courses for high schools and colleges, such as and training of future personnel."

Andreja Mladenović, director of the "Belgrade Metro and Train" PUC, pointed out: "We are aware of the role DB plays at the European, but also global level, when it comes to mobility and transport. We expect the full support of the project team for the successful implementation of phase 1 of line 1 of the Belgrade metro."

The meeting was attended in front of DB, in addition to the director of international business S. Geisperger, the executive director for international engineering Frank Spoerl, the executive director for Europe Michael Algrim and the general manager of the DB office in Serbia Ivan Ilić.
