The memorandum of understanding on the implementation of the system integration project for the construction of the first line of the Belgrade metro was signed today by the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Aleksandra Sofronijević, representatives of the "Belgrade Metro and Train" PUK, the Secretariat for Public Transport of the City of Belgrade and the Spanish company Ingerop T3 S.L.U.
After signing the contract in the Government of Serbia, Sofronijević said that she was pleased by the fact that Spanish companies are increasingly interested in investing in Serbia and that she believes that economic relations between the two countries will further improve through future joint projects.
She added that this cooperation confirms that Spain is a sincere and important friend of Serbia.
"The Belgrade metro represents a matter of strategic development, economic growth, but also the quality of life of all our citizens. By including renowned international partners and introducing the highest standards of system engineering, we show that Serbia has the capacity to implement the most complex projects, following the example of the most developed countries in the world," she added.
She emphasized that every segment of the project will be implemented according to the highest standards.
"In this way, we ensure that every segment of the project, i.e. from design through construction to commissioning, is realized according to the highest world standards of safety, reliability and efficiency", she stated.
Speaking about the complexity of the project, she pointed out the need to coordinate several participants.
"Due to the complexity of the work and separate contracts for construction work and work on systems, supporting systems, and therefore the creation of separate projects for the building permit, as well as for other projects in accordance with the Law on Planning and Construction by two contractors, it is necessary to carefully coordinate and integrate their mutual processes," said Sofronijević.
She reminded that the Government of Serbia already adopted the memorandum at the session held on March 19 this year.
"Today we signed this memorandum to the satisfaction of all participating parties," she said.
She also emphasized the importance of the role of the master integrator in the metro construction process.
"In order to ensure the continuous work process of both contractors, a market survey was carried out regarding the role of the master integrator. The master integrator plays a key role in coordinating and supervising the integration of all engineering disciplines, systems and components throughout the entire project life cycle, as a central coordinator responsible for ensuring that all technical, functional, operational and physical interfaces between the various work packages at the system level are properly defined, managed and validated", stated Sofronijević.
