The signing of the Consultancy Services Agreement for the Master Integrator of Belgrade Metro Line 1 marks another significant milestone in the implementation of Serbia’s largest infrastructure project. The appointment of the Master Integrator establishes the foundation for effective coordination among all project stakeholders and the integration of the future metro system into a single functional entity, which is essential for ensuring its safety, reliability, and efficient operation.
On behalf of the Client, the Agreement was signed by Slaven Andrić, Acting Secretary of the Secretariat for Public Transport of the City of Belgrade, and Andreja Mladenović, Acting Director of the Public Utility Company “Belgrade Metro and Train”. On behalf of the Consultant, INGEROP T3 S.L.U. and its branch office INGEROP T3 S.L. Belgrade, the Agreement was signed by Chief Executive Officers Álvaro Gómez-Rey Romero and Arnau Piza Cloquell.
The purpose of the Agreement is the engagement of a Master Integrator who will provide expert consultancy services for the system integration of the first line of the Belgrade Metro. The Master Integrator will be responsible for coordinating all key technical systems and their interfaces, aligning the work of contractors and project participants, and ensuring that the future metro operates as a unified, safe, and efficient transport system.
The Master Integrator will be involved throughout all phases of the project—from system design and development, coordination of civil and technological works, interface management and system integration, to testing, commissioning, and certification preparation. This role will enable the timely resolution of technical challenges, efficient cooperation among all stakeholders, and the implementation of internationally recognized systems engineering standards.
Acting Director of the Public Utility Company “Belgrade Metro and Train”, Andreja Mladenović, emphasized that the signing of this Agreement represents one of the key milestones in the implementation of Belgrade Metro Line 1.
"The Belgrade Metro is far more than the construction of tunnels and stations—it is an extremely complex system in which every element must function seamlessly together. This is precisely why the role of the Master Integrator is crucial: to coordinate the work of all project participants and ensure that the future metro is safe, reliable, and fully operational from day one. The engagement of a Master Integrator is a standard practice on modern metro projects worldwide and further confirms that the Belgrade Metro is being developed in accordance with international best practices. In doing so, we are creating the conditions for Belgrade to receive a modern metro system that will provide citizens with a higher-quality, more efficient, and more reliable public transport service. This is another important milestone demonstrating that the project is progressing according to plan and entering a new phase of implementation," said Mladenović.
He added that the engagement of the Master Integrator will enable systematic coordination among all project participants, more efficient management of technical challenges, and successful integration of all metro subsystems, thereby reducing project risks and ensuring that the first metro line is delivered in accordance with the highest standards of safety, quality, interoperability, and reliability.
Álvaro Gómez-Rey Romero stated that INGEROP is honored to have been entrusted with the role of Master Integrator for the first line of the Belgrade Metro, one of the most ambitious metro projects currently under development in Europe. He emphasized that the company is entering the project with full commitment, relying on the international experience of its experts and close cooperation with local partners.
"Our mission is to ensure the successful integration of every segment of the project so that the future metro system is safe, reliable, and efficient. We fully recognize the responsibility that comes with the construction of Serbia’s first metro system, and we are confident that, through close cooperation with all project partners, we will contribute to the successful delivery of this landmark infrastructure project."
The signing of this Agreement marks another important step in the implementation of the Belgrade Metro project in line with modern international engineering practices. The appointment of the Master Integrator establishes the conditions for even more effective coordination among all project participants and supports the continued implementation of the first metro line in accordance with the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability.
